Artist Statement 



산수화에서 풍경은 단순한 재현의 대상이 아니라, 인간과 자연의 기운이 스며드는 감각의 공간이었습니다. 특히 겸재 정선의 진경산수는 실제 풍경을 바탕으로 하면서도 흐름과 여백을 통해 살아 있는 자연의 기운을 화면 안에 담아냈습니다.

Flowing Landscapes는 이러한 한국적 풍경의 조형 원리를 동시대 디지털 환경 안에서 다시 탐구합니다. 데이터와 알고리즘, 인공지능이 생성하는 새로운 시각 체계 속에서, 수묵의 흐름은 코드의 흐름으로 번역되고 다시 플리츠와 드레이프, 텍스타일의 표면을 통해 의복의 구조로 확장됩니다.

이 과정에서 평면의 풍경은 몸 위를 흐르는 입체적 공간으로 전환됩니다. 의복은 신체를 덮는 대상을 넘어, 움직임에 따라 순간적으로 생성되고 사라지는 '살아 있는 풍경'이 됩니다. 본 작업은 한국 수묵의 정신성을 디지털 생성 과정과 패션 조형 안에서 새롭게 연결하려는 시도입니다.



In traditional Korean landscape painting, scenery was not merely an object of representation, but a sensory space where the energies of nature and humanity could permeate one another. In particular, the true-view landscapes of Jeong Seon captured the vitality of living nature through flow, rhythm, and emptiness while remaining grounded in real landscapes.

Flowing Landscapes reinterprets these formative principles of Korean landscape aesthetics within a contemporary digital context. Within new visual systems shaped by data, algorithms, and artificial intelligence, the fluidity of ink is translated into the flow of code, and further expanded through pleats, drapery, and textile surfaces into the structure of garments.

Through this process, the flat landscape is transformed into a sculptural space that moves across the body. Garments become more than objects that cover the body; they emerge as “living landscapes” that continuously appear and disappear through movement. This work seeks to reconnect the spirituality of Korean ink painting with digital image generation and contemporary fashion form.
